Happiness is a Crock of Beans

I love me some traveling.  The road trip kind.  Forget about airports and lines and tickets and grumpy people and confinement.  If you ask me, car travel is the only way to go.  There is a freedom with it that you cannot get traveling by air, and if you know me, you know I hate it when people tell me what to do.  Windows down, music up, stopping on a whim.  Yep, car travel is for me.  And since Rose and I just took a fabulous trip to Colorado, we decided to dedicate this post to the road.
The stretch of I-70 between Kansas City and Denver is well traveled by the Rice family.  It's the perfect distance for one day of travel.  And we've done it so much, we know exactly where to and where not to stop.  We are I-70 experts.
Kansas mile marker 53.  We know it, we love it.  Colby, Kansas and the Oasis on the Plains.  Oh yeah, baby.  Fake palm trees, clean bathrooms, STARBUCKS for Mommy, and a fenced in playground for all the kiddos.  This is it.

We heart Colby, Kansas!
Not to mention the gorilla.  I mean come on, a gorilla.  In Colby, Kansas.  Does it get any better than this?

This is what Rose looks like in jail.  She likes it a little too much.

Driving along I-70 can also be a great learning experience.  Kansans have many things they want to teach passersby by billboard.  Such as:

1.  Obama is a Fraud.  Demand Resignation Now.  God Bless America!
2.  Wannabe Marxist Dictator (Referring to Obama.  And I must say the photo of him accompanying these words is charming.)
3.  Jesus is real
4.  Accept Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.  or regret it forever.  (They just had to throw that last part in there.)
5.  Jesus heals and restores.  Pornography destroys.  (Right next to the Adult Superstore.)
6.  Abortion kills
7.  Jesus saves

These signs are downright entertainment when driving along I-70.  But my favorite bit of literature is in Colorado, because let's face it, Happiness is a crock of beans.  For reals.
Mommy and Rose's gal pal trip went off without a hitch.  We had a great time and are certain we'll do it again.
