Saturday Storytime

During the month of May, the Manhattan Public Library only has storytimes on Saturdays, and they take place on the front lawn...in that hot Kansas sun.  Phew!  When I found out the theme for the first storytime was "Construction Site," I knew we were going, heat or not.

Dale tried to be a good sport, and he stayed on his little carpet square for as long as he could before surrendering to Daddy's lap for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

The guest reader for the day was City Commissioner, Rich Jankovich.

Quite frankly, it was too hot to just bake in the sun, but once storytime was over, the real fun began.  Why?  Because Dale found a wall to climb over and over again.

Then the real smiles came out.  I suppose if we take our kids to Saturday storytime again, we'd better make sure they have their climbing shoes on.
