A Christmas Program

December 21, 2012

At the end of the semester, Dale's preschool held a wonderful Christmas program at the church.  We got all dressed up and went downtown for the fun.

Dale looked so handsome that he got several compliments from the teachers.  He was very proud of himself.

I swear it was the best preschool Christmas program EVER!

Dale was absolutely adorable on that stage.  He did all the actions and sang all the songs.  His favorite song was called, "There's room in my heart for Jesus," and he still sings it at home today.

Once the program was over, the kids got to decorate and then eat cupcakes.  What a treat it was for Dale.  He picked his spot at the table right next to his best friend, Benen.

This is the only picture I got of Dale with his teacher Mrs. Armstrong, because he got all shy when she approached us.  Although Mrs. Armstrong swears Dale is the opposite of shy in class.  Hmmm.

Once we got back home, the kids played for several hours.

Eventually everyone pooped out.

Fishing With PawPaw

For Dale's birthday, PawPaw got Dale his very own fishing pole, and the next day, off they went to a local pond to try it out.  It was hard for me to hand over a "first" to someone else, but I have never been fishing before.  This was something I couldn't teach my son.  But that didn't stop me from tagging along to watch!

Dale wore his biker vest that PawPaw had made over a year ago.  There are several patches on the vest, one of which says, "My PawPaw's biker buddy."  Dale was so proud to wear his vest and fish with PawPaw.

Meanwhile, Rose cuted the crap out of the nearby playground.

When we got back home, the kids thought they deserved some candy for being so wonderful that morning.  These are their yes-I'm-cute-give-me-candy faces.

The Real Thing

September 29, 2012

We have been looking forward to taking Dale to an airshow since he first showed an interest in rockets and other assorted fast flying things, and since I'm not one for postponing activities, this year's "Wings over McConnell" airshow at McConnell Air Force Base was the perfect chance to go.  What a bonus that Monga and PawPaw live in Wichita and were able to join us on our adventure.

There were airplanes of every kind spread out all over the area, and we did our best to look at them all.  We even learned that Dale only has to be eight years old to start flying.  That's only four years away!  We are soooo all over that.

A new Thunderbird to love!

We stayed for the entire show from start to finish, oohing and aahing at every turn and every flyby.  Dang, it was fun!

Oh the Thunderbirds.  Wow.  Just wow!  The respect, the courage, the esteem of it all.

#4 Maj. Nicholas Holmes and #5 Maj. J.R. Williams prepare for the show.
#1 Lt.Col. Greg Moseley

You could see Dale and Rose dreaming about their futures as Air Force pilots.

We were tired, sunburned and deaf, but oh, what a fabulous day!

Ballerina Princess Party

Rose is quite the princess.  No, she's a ballerina princess.  Or is it a princess ballerina or fairy princess or fairy princess ballerina or fairy ballerina?  Whatever it is, she's my cutie patootie princess pie.  So for her birthday, Rose had the most precious ballerina princess party ever.  She loved it.

Party tutu.

Our little princess.

To celebrate Rose's second birthday, we had the family come over for food and princess ballerina fun.

The backyard was decorated as froufrou and fabulous as possible, with ribbons and sparkles everywhere.  Both Monga and Aunt Sara brought special touches to help out, and it really made the backyard magical.

For this birthday, I somehow convinced Daddy to make cupcakes instead of his usual elaborate cake.  He made his now famous red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting.  Yummmmm.

What a magical day for Rose.  Happy second birthday to our precious princess!

Dear Rose, I promise I was there at your birthday party, but I have not a single photograph to prove it.  Sometimes I forget to ask Daddy to take the camera.  I'm working on that.  I love you!
