Well, whattayaknow? A shoe tree way out in the middle of nowhere, at the corner of 80th and V Road to be exact. Whodathunkit?
The shoe tree wasn't the late John Kissel's idea, but that didn't stop him from starting his own in the 1980's out near Wetmore, Kansas.
You can't help but laugh, or at least say, "I'll be," when you see the old cottonwood adorned with the ugliest shoes you ever did see.
There's still plenty of room on that grand tree for more fabulous shoes. I know a certain pair of shoes with a long and hilarious familial history that should go straight to this tree as soon as possible. Not without a proper Platts ceremony of course.
