From Kansas to Colorado

The first day of the new year we found ourselves driving across the state to get to Colorado in time for Daddy to be back to work at his new job on January 2nd.  We drove straight to Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q in Denver, where Dale immediately started drawing a self portrait.

Dale obviously felt art deprived from the car trip.
This is the first time Dale has drawn teeth.
The red mark on Dale's forehead is a "boo-boo" apparently.

Rose showered her Daddy with hugs and kisses and face touches while we waited for our food.  Daddy didn't mind.

The next day we tried to figure out new and exciting ways to entertain ourselves in a hotel room while Daddy was at work.  The phones proved to be extremely fun for two toddlers who have never seen such odd things before.

Turns out Dale had a lot to say to the person on the other end of the phone.

Rose got in on the action too and made several calls to Grandma and Monga.

Dale was very expressive as he talked.  There were many things that concerned him or made him laugh.  He never did figure out how to put the phone up to his ear though.

The next day we figured out two new things:

1.  Maps from the hotel lobby make excellent blankets.

And 2.  Toilet seats can be beautiful princess hats.

Why yes, yes this is a used toilet seat.
So pretty.
At the time I thought the hotel room was pretty torturous.  But oh boy, our next move was way worse.  Coming soon...the apartment.  (Insert scary music and wide eyes.)

  1. I hope you framed Dale's self portrait. Those teeth are awesome! And the pic of Rose with the toilet seat on her head...that's going in the wedding slideshow!
